"Dear backer

It's been way too long since our last Update and you have our sincere apologies for keeping you in the dark like this. This is not the way we wanted to handle the project, but you'll soon know why it took a turn.

Since the day of funding the development process has been going down hill and we really wanted to change this to post some good news on development and project progression. Sadly, we had to go through a hassling two months just to get to where we are now.

To our surprise and disappointment many things have changed at LPCC a since the closure of the Chivalry project funding. These things involve changes to production timelines, proofing methods, shipping, quotes and management.

These are the headlines of the process since the day of funding:
August 2
Final artwork was delivered to LPCC

August 22
After final and close examination of the Chivalry artwork LPCC has come to the conclusion that their Emerald Finish production facilities must decline the task of manufacturing Chivalry. They claim to lack the technical experience and capabilites to handle all the special features. This comes as a surprise to us because all matters were debated during the Kickstarter funding.

August 23
We request an offer to have the decks made at their Diamond Finish facilities.

September 4
We ask for status of the offer (which is still being processed)

September 23
LPCC sends us a rough estimate on quotation which is out of reach for us financially AND put a delay of +4 months to the projects. Note here that it took LPCC 4 weeks just to come up with a rough and unformal quote.

September 26
We request a formal quotation and try to negotiate with LPCC

September 30
LPCC are unable to give a formal quote and reject negotiation.

Chivalry will not be printed by LPCC

Ever since we placed the order with LPCC their ways of handling the project has been quite surprising and discouraging in every way. In conclusion Legends Playing Cards Co. has handled this project in a way that we, as project creators, find worrying and unacceptable. We have no interest in influencing the brand or popularity of LPCC. We will refrain from laying out details here as any company can go through tough times and difficulties.

What matters here is to have an awesome set of Chivalry decks made. Ultimately, our main focus is the continuous support and trust of our loyal backers. And we will achieve this through the development and fulfillment of decks that will continue to impress.

Chivalry will be printed by NPCC
As you know the Chivalry decks are very complex in terms of features such as seals, interior printing, embossing, foiling and layout. We have examined the alternatives with different suppliers, which has lead us to NPCC as our new choice of printer.

NPCC, based in Europe, is the only renowned deck manufacturer which is technically capable of printing and shipping the complex Chivalry decks within the funding framework. It's an undesirable situation having to alter the pitched plan, but we have confidence in our new choice of printer. In this case we are forced to pick the best alternative within the framework of quality, service and technical matters.

Offer of a full refund
As this change potentially could damage our good reputation and credibility as project creators we have decided to offer all backers a full refund, no questions asked. If you have pledged into this because of the choice of printer or estimated delivery, and therefore do not accept the changes to the project we understand and respect this.

Just send us a PM within two weeks to let us know if you would like to make use of the refund.

Deck upgrades

If you choose to stick with this project and support the change we have some good news and upgrades to share with you. As NPCC has been kind enough to take over and ensure project completion we've decided to tweak a few things for the Chivalry decks.

Upgrades include:
- Numbered seals
- Sturdier tuck box stock
- Metallic red ink
Brick boxes have arrived!

One more thing - we got the brick boxes this week and they all look and feel sooo nice! The ones shown here are stuffed with decks from our own private collection, but we can't wait to have these boxes loaded with the numbered Chivalry decks!"

Menuda novela.
